Summer Camp FAQs

How much do Camps cost?

Each of our gyms are priced differently based on location and demand.

Millcreek: $255

Sandy: $255

Lehi: $230

Katy: $295

Silver Street: $295

How fast do your summer camps fill up?

Registration is on a first come/first serve basis. Some of our summer camps do fill up quick, but there is no way to know how fast that will happen.  We suggest registering for the weeks you know that you are interested in as early as possible.

The week I want to register for is full! What can I do?

If you are willing to travel to another Momentum location, consider registering for one of our other Momentum locations. You can also email the gym of your choosing to be placed on a waiting list in the case that someone cancels their booking.

millcreekcamp@momentumclimbing.com

sandycamp@momentumclimbing.com

lehicamp@momentumclimbing.com

katycamp@momentumclimbing.com

silverstreetcamp@momentumclimbing.com

Being placed on the waiting list does not guarantee your child a spot in our camps.  Please ensure that your contact information is correct so that the youth program manager is able to contact you should a spot become available.  Also, please know that in years past we have had very few cancellations.

Monday through Friday we provide light snacks. In the past this has included Gold Fish, fruit snacks, granola bars and pretzels. You are always welcome to pack your child extra snacks or a lunch for camp!

What should my child bring to Summer Camp?

It is recommended to label anything your child brings to camp!

  • Socks- these may be used to prevent blisters caused by the climbing shoes.
  • If your child has their own climbing gear, they are welcome to use it.
  • If you child is a picky eater or has many allergies to food, you may want to send them with a light snack, as we take 20-30 minutes for snack time each day.
  • A willingness to participate, learn and have fun!

What NOT to bring to summer camp!

  • Electronics (iPods, Cell Phone, iPads, handheld games, etc)
  • Please do not send any fake weapons or toys with your child’s costumes

Do we need to purchase any climbing gear before camp?

No! We provide all necessary climbing equipment for your child while at camp.

What should my child wear?

Campers should wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement.  Campers might be given theme days encouraging them to dress up, but it is not required.

If wearing shorts, please wear shorts that are harness friendly and if wearing a skirt, please wear leggings underneath.

Do you offer day care options before or after camp?

Unfortunately no, Momentum is not set up to provide any additional care before or after our summer camps.

My child has special needs, can they attend Momentum Summer Camp?

Momentum is an inclusive community.  It is our goal that each child at camp has a successful and healthy experience – socially, emotionally, and physically.  If your child has additional needs, please contact your gym’s youth program manager so we can help ensure your child’s success. Examples include: Learning difficulties or instructions better understood when given a specific way, extra notification or supervision before/while transitioning between activities, significant anxiety about being away from home/parents, significant social difficulties in group settings.

Lost and Found

If your child loses an item while at camp, please have the summer camp counselors help you check the Lost and Found before or after camp. If you realize an item is missing once the camp week is over, please check with the front desk for missing item(s).

**We recommend that you label all personal items brought to camp to easier identify when lost.

Climbing Skin Care

Rock climbing, like baseball or soccer, is an active sport and scrapes and bumps are not uncommon. It is our job to ensure that minor injuries are handled with care. Blisters are not uncommon on the hands and feet when learning to climb. If you see blisters on your child, please help communicate these hot spots to the coaches so they can help keep your climber comfortable.

Tips and tricks:

  • Chalk can help! Momentum encourages the use of a chalk ball in a chalk bag for new climbers.
  • Socks help protect from climbing shoe blisters.
  • Keep hands clean and hydrated- wash hands free of chalk immediately after climbing and use hand moisturizers regularly.
  • If you develop blisters, use a small bit of tape over affected area while on the climbing wall to prevent further damage.

Missing a day of camp

Unfortunately due to the volume of participants in most weeks of camp, we do not permit makeup days if your child is absent.  Each case will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine if a refund is warranted. If your child has an injury or medical emergency and is unable to participate please contact your facilities Youth Program Manager.

The health and safety of your child is very important to us.  Parents will be contacted immediately if an important medical concern arises during camp.  It is our job to ensure that minor injuries (we use a lot of bandaids during camp) are handled with care.  Blisters do occur on the hands and feet when learning to climb.  If you see blisters, let the counselors know so they can help keep your camper comfortable throughout the day.
