​The shoulder may be the most complex joint in the human body, and its deeper mechanics are rarely considered – until and unless something goes wrong. As athletes, we all do good things for our shoulders – loading and unloading cycles in climbing and yoga can provide ongoing maintenance. But sometimes shoulders need a bit more care. This session will explore strategies you can employ on your own to keep – or improve – your shoulder health.

USA Climbing Youth Local Sport and Speed Competition

Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 at Momentum Sandy

On Saturday, April 23rd, Momentum Indoor Climbing will be hosting a Youth Local Sport and Speed Competition, in partnership with USA Climbing (USAC). The competition starts at 9am and will wrap up around 1pm.

This event will require portions of the gym to be closed to regular use in order to facilitate route setting and competition. Additional details about wall closures can be found below.

Redpoint format
Athlete check in begins at 8:00 AM
Climbing to begin at 9:00 AM
Climbing closes at Noon
Competition ends at 1pm

Register Today: Registration is $45 per competitor. Discounts are available for USAC members. Please note that spectators are welcome to attend at no charge. Lead ropes and volunteer belayers will be provided for lead climbing.

Gym Closures: Monday, April 18th through Saturday, April 23rd

Route setting activities will require the closure the gym areas outlined below. These areas will remain closed on Saturday, April 23rd until the competition is finished.

All other gym climbing areas will be open throughout the week and during the competition.

Inevitably you’ve heard it from yoga teachers, training partners, climbing coaches, and the media at large (not to mention photos of Alex Pucchio) – having a strong core is important. But what’s often been left out is the what it is and what it does, why it’s important, how to know if you’re strong enough and how to train it to get stronger in your active endeavors. During this 90 minute workshop you will learn to activate and strengthen the core to unlock power, strength and athletic potential. Join Michael Krushinsky – Momentum yoga teacher, personal trainer and kettlebell addict – for this workshop in which we’ll answer these questions and practice drills to find core strength and stability to support climbers, skiers, lifters, and humans in general.
