Competitive Program TEXAS FAQ

Momentum’s Competitive Program is for climbers who have a high degree of climbing experience and aptitude. Team members are selected through tryouts based on ability and compete in USA Climbing youth competitions.

Team invitations will be issued within 24 hours of the end of try-outs. Athletes have 24 hours to accept the invitation. Second round invites will be sent out following that.

We will be inviting talented climbers that are not quite ready for the Competitive Program to our Advanced Camps and Clubs through this tryout.  If your climber does not make an advanced group or the Competitive Program, we recommend that they register for one of our seasonal programs online at https://www.momentumclimbing.com/katy/youth  or momentumclimbing.com/silver-street/youth to further develop their skills.

Participants will progress to the next level when they can perform the skills needed to move up. Please remember children learn at their own pace. It is not uncommon for participants to repeat classes for a full year or more before progressing. To fully understand the progression requirements, speak with your gym’s Youth Program Manager or Program’s Head Coach.

The Momentum Competitive Program placement is by tryout. Each region has one Competitive Program that practices at all locations.

 Missing a Practice

Please carefully consider your schedule when trying out for Competitive Team. Our curriculum is well organized classes built on previous lessons. Your climber will learn and enjoy the experience more if they attend each week during their specified practices.

We do not offer refunds or make up days for any missed classes. We do however encourage athletes to come into the gym on their own time if they miss a practice.

We understand that injuries and medical emergencies are unpredictable and in the event that your child must miss a practice(s) due to an injury or emergency we will evaluate how to proceed on a case by case basis. If your child has an injury or medical emergency and is unable to participate please contact your Head Coach.
